Monday Rundown: Can’t See Straight

By on October 3, 2011

Throw yo hands up, it’s the first Monday Rundown in many, many Mondays. Rightfully so, we have so much to talk about, so let’s catch up–––

––WHATTTTTTT: Talk about one HECK of a weekend for Detroit sports. The Detroit Lions Kardiac Kitties came back from a deficit of 20 or more for the second straight week, defeating the Cowboys 34-30 after trailing 27-3. You. Iz. Kidding. Me. Let me go on-record by saying the following: that is completely ridiculous. Last week was crazy enough; this week was unbelievable. In 2008, this team would’ve lost 44-3, but it’s official, the culture has changed. The Lions are now 4-0 and tied atop the NFC North with the NFL’s only other undefeated team, the Green Bay Packers. The Lions have the Bears next week on Monday Night Football, which will be raucous.

It seems as if the Lions’ performance underscored everything else, but the Tigers beat New York 5-3 last night to even their ALDS series, 1-1. Michigan is now ranked #11 after a 58-0 whipping of Minnesota; heck, even the Red Wings beat Pittsburgh in a preseason game (I will always love that). To reiterate: that was a great sports weekend!

––So Aptly Summed Up: From Christ Fellowship CityPlace pastor John Poitevent (and you must click and see that image):

Lord, we won’t forget this one for a long time. Thank you. http://yfrog.com/khhr7yrj

––Check This Out: It’s new Gungor. And it is great. “Crags and Clay,” “Ezekiel,” and “Vous Etes Mon Coure” are personal favorites.

––Encouraging Auto Numbers: Chrysler was first out of the gate in releasing September sales numbers, up 27% from one year ago. Sales of my future vehicle of choice, the Jeep Compass, more than tripled. This is because: 1) I have good taste, and 2) it’s a great looking car. Stay tuned this week as I write about the fallacy of buying American in a global economy… it’s thought provoking.

––Facebook Timeline Delayed: The ever-so-fresh Facebook Timeline has been delayed until at least tomorrow. This is a result of a pending lawsuit by Timelines.com, who say that Facebook’s new profile will threaten its’ business. A judge’s ruling on Tuesday will determine whether Facebook can move ahead with a full-scale launch. 1.1 million Facebook users have already activated the timeline, by way of a developer workaround.
