Monday Rundown: Wakes From A Coma.
––Comatose: If you’re wondering where my boring musings went for a week, I was at the boat show in Lauderdale. And it was great. But it was impossible to write during that 70+ hour week. And then I went comatose due to lack of sleep. And then we got an extra hour of sleep due to Daylight Savings Time. And then it didn’t matter because I was awake at 5:00am to coach PBA at a tournament in Melbourne. Comatose. Maybe I’ll catch up next weekend? Next year? When I retire? When I’m dead or when Jesus comes back to embrace me in his arms?
Also, apparently not getting enough sleep affects your memory. Plus, being tired makes you more stressed out, which ALSO hurts your memory. Who knew?
––Speaking of lacrosse: I’ll keep this moderately short, because I know most of you (aka, the readers) are actually women and probably could not care less. HA.GETYOUROWNBLOG. Despite my probable sunstroke (Disclaimer: I have no idea what sunstroke is, but I was ridiculously dehydrated and I had a bad headache), we went 1-1-1 with a glorious win over Florida Gulf Coast (I love beating those
idiots losers pricks people that Jesus happens to love just as much as he loves me) and a tie against Miami that was called because of a fight before overtime. Who said lacrosse isn’t rough? I couldn’t see how many punches were thrown. We also nearly beat Florida Tech, who blew everybody else out by 10-12 goals. Sorry #longwinded.
––Texting & Relationships: Check this out…
Texting is an important part of dating, and if you like to play passive aggressive games, it might even give you the upper hand in a relationship. It’s because we have our phones with us all the time, and texting is about instant gratification. So making someone wait for a response, or sending them a blank message can play on their emotions.
How messed up is our culture. I mean, seriously? Don’t get me wrong… we’ve all done it, but come on. There comes a point (at least in the Christian walk) where, when you’re pursuing someone and walking so closely to God that this type of game-playing shouldn’t even pop into our heads. There are an entire set of legitimately ready Christian men and women who are on fire for the Lord and ready for people to step up and be mature.
––Jordan Gritter Wake Up Call: Last night, I was hanging out with some of the best people I know (Jordan Gritter, Justin Shockley, Kyle Whitmire, and Jenn Coggins). We were watching Aladdin. It was great. My grandparents bought me the sequel, Return of Jafar, in ’94 when I had my tonsils out… I never watched it. Apparently it didn’t even have Robin Williams… who does that?! Anyway, there came a point where Jordan put a ring on his ring finger and said, “Isn’t it crazy that we will be married in ten––or five––years?”
I don’t know why that shocked me like it did. Maybe it was the tangible ring on his finger as a representation of something that is purely speculative. Obviously everyone wants to get married someday, but there is no way in all of God’s kingdom that I am ready for that type of commitment. That takes a ton of love, to God and to your wife/husband… and eventually to your children. I know has started a great work within me (Phil 1:6), but HOLY MACKINAW, I feel like I had a whole ‘lotta growing to do in singleness before I am ready to give that woman what she truly deserves. When it happens, it will be great, but until then thank-you-Jordan-Gritter.
––Step Out In Faith: Hey you! Step out in faith! God will bless it! I promise you. Comfortability is pure cancer.
––How Can I Pray For You?: If you need some prayer, please write me in the comments, send me an email [jayson.m.schmidt (at) gmail (dot) com], or tweet me @JaysonSchmidt. I would love to expand my prayer list… and we all need some prayer warriors that will relentlessly petition the Lord on behalf of us.
