Passion 2012: ‘Be Fearless’ (Louie Giglio)
[Editor's Note: These notes are from the Passion 2012 conference. They are from the perspective of the speaker. Enjoy them, and check out the other sessions from Beth Moore, Christine Caine, Francis Chan, and John Piper.]
God is not limited by who has a lanyard on. When God shows up, everybody knows that God is in the house.
“The news of Jesus spread all throughout the country.”
How Great Is Our God was trending #1 on Twitter globally. #Passion2012 did the same. And #WithEverything, too.
What we are saying via Twitter, we are saying to the world.
The one thing that trends in your life is that Jesus trends. He becomes the name that spreads all thru the country.
[box_light]Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,
–Ephesians 6:19 (NIV)[/box_light]
Pray that I will declare it fearlessly.
The problem we’re up against: You are in a system that is setting you up for a not-yet-arrived-at-destination. Middle school sets you up for high school, and then high school sets you up for college. Then, it’s ‘what are you gonna do’; ‘what are you gonna major in’. What are you gonna be?
The system drives you along, but Jesus has come onto the scene and has wrecked your future. He’s done this to show you that God can do anything and everything.
You don’t need to wait to fully participate in the plans of God. They’re right now. Lord willing, there will be chapters you don’t even know about. Is it your prayer that God would put words in your mouth that show the fire inside your heart?
We like to say a hurdle is brokenness. (“We proclaim the gospel… but look at all the mess.”) This is where God uses us best; out of our brokenness; fearlessness. Brokenness is the bow from which God launches the arrows of healing. God launches the arrows of healing through Christ’s death.
Another hurdle is that, “I don’t know what to do.” Do this: stick a pin into the question of, “what is God’s will for my life?”
Lord, give me words to fearlessly proclaim the mystery of the gospel. Move that to the top of your prayer list.
Pursue your passion. God isn’t concerned with what you’re doing, but whatever you’re doing, do it in the name of Jesus. Minimize fear by maximizing fear in God. We are chained to Jesus. I’ve already chained by heart to the unchainable Jesus Christ.
Be fearless. Boldly does not always mean loudly. Jesus fearlessly hung on the cross and proclaimed the mystery of the gospel.
